Sam then asked her if he could call her Charlie, which she happily agreed to as it was also the name her brood mother called her by when she was a little hatchling. He asked her for her name, to which Charlie gave her extremely long real name. Charlie explained that she wasn't one of Mental's fanatical servants, after which he begrudgingly put away his gun.
When Sam initially met Charlie he mistook her for an enemy and pulled out his pistol while warning the others, but Michelle stopped him in time and told him that the Arachnoid was actually their informant, much to Sam's surprise. Sam Stone encountered resistance leader Michelle, who took Sam to their informant to get into the castle. AAA leader General Brand instructed them to meet up with the French resistance cell to help them gain access to the castle and regroup. They discovered that the Grail was hidden inside a church in the castle above Carcassonne and were separated on their way there. The Alien Artifact Acquisition team was tasked with finding the legendary Holy Grail, believed to actually be an alien device capable of healing all wounds, to help turn the losing war around.

Despite this, a small resistance movement still continues to sabotage his operations from within, managing to convert a few Arachnoid hatchlings to their cause before they could be indoctrinated. She also has a fondness for her brood mother and practical jokes, being ecstatic at the prospect of helping Sam pull a prank on one of his friends.Ĭharlie was born on the arachnoid homeworld Scorpius, where alien overlord Tah-Um had helped fanatical sects overthrow the High Council and ruined over a thousand years of culture, leaving their civilization a theocracy worshipping him as their god and savior. An understandable point of frustration however is with the fanatics that currently rule her homeworld, calling them the arachnoid language equivalent of "assholes" for having destroyed much of their culture.

In contrast to the highly aggressive arachnoids Sam has to fight throughout the series Charlie is exceptionally polite, holding no grudge towards Sam for his hostile reflex upon their first meeting. Like the other adult arachnoids, she wields one gatling gun in each hand into battle.
The only visual difference between her and the other arachnoids is the yellow and orange hue on her traditionally red armor grafted onto her carapace. Charlie looks nearly identical to the hostile adult arachnoids encountered by Sam Stone throughout his journey, being a large alien with the lower body of a scorpion and a humanoid torso with clawed hands.
